Hotel Panache
An intimate portrait in a public space (31 January 2022 - 01 July 2022) Rooms of Hotel Panache became my home while I was attending a photography school in Paris - the very inspiring, full-bodied yet lonely and challenging phase of my life. Living in two countries simultaneously necessitated me to live in a hotel and move in and out, and change rooms every week. Every Friday I packed my belongings and took a plane back home. Every Sunday I returned to Paris, checked in, unpacked and picked up from where I left off, again and again. Twenty two check in and check out circles over the period of five months. Self portraits taken weekly over the period illustrate how my life shrinked to the size of a single hotel room, to a mid size bed, to be precise. The walls of many rooms of Hotel Panache I have inhabited have seen me at my lowest and at my best. The days spent at Hotel Panache may seem careless. Cliches may illustrate "glorious" hotel life. But the series is yet another lesson that nothing is ever as it seems.
